All Proving Ground Drivers require Proving Ground Driving Permits (Proving Ground Medical). A medical assessment is required to successfully apply for this.

The medical standards for Proving Ground Drivers (Horiba Mira) are those defined by the DVLA Group 2 entitlement as identified in the DVLA Publications assessing Fitness to Drive: A Guide for Medical Professionals.

The examination will only take around 15-30 minutes. It includes an eye test, Blood pressure check, physical examination and BMI Check. You will be asked questions about the following topics:

  • cardiovascular system including high Blood pressure.
  • endocrine system such as diabetes
  • musculoskeletal such as back pain.
  • neurological such as stroke
  • psychiatric such as depression.
  • Alcohol and drug history
  • vision.

The doctor will complete the form based on your answers, medical history, medications and the results of the examination findings.

This medical assessment is performed by our GMC registered Doctors at Just Health clinics.

An initial Medical assessment is required then:

  • Up to age 59: Medical review every 3 years
  • Age 60-65: Medical review every 2 years at 60,62,64
  • Age 65: Medical review annually.

Additional reviews are required if there is a change in an individuals medical status ( ie new diagnosis such as diabetes), change in medication, or incident on the Proving ground (Crash/Accident), Managements Request.
