Hay fever or allergic Rhinitis is an allergy to pollen or even dust and mould. According to Allergy UK, hay fever affects about 20% of the population. If you have a family history of asthma or eczema, you are most likely to also have hay fever.

We offer Hay Fever Treatment for Severe Symptoms

There are a number of hay fever treatments, which can help with your day-to-day symptoms. The most effective way to treat hay fever is a mixture of antihistamines, nasal sprays and eye drops. All of these products help to provide all-day relief from hay fever symptoms.

Please note our service for severe Hay Fever treatment is only available if you are over 18 year old. If the treatment is deemed unsuitable by our Clinicians (£40 refund is given, a fee of £20 is charged for the consultation/assessment in Burnley and £30 in Shepherds Bush), the Doctor’s decision is final.

If a second dose is required the fee is £40 Burnley and £60 Shepherds Bush.

Our Hay Fever treatment is only administered to individuals who suffer with:

• Severe Hay Fever symptoms despite trying common treatments
• AND the Doctor deems it is appropriate and safe to do so.
• The standard dose administered is 40mg once for 3 months.

What is hay fever?

Hay fever is caused by an allergic reaction to pollen, the body reacts by making specific antibodies. The majority of people are allergic to grass pollen, so will experience their worst symptoms between May and June; tree pollen affects people between March and May; while others are affected by weed and mould pollens in the autumn.

Many people manage hay fever symptoms by taking over-the-counter antihistamine drops or tablets and using a nasal spray.

What is a steroid injection, can it be used for Hay Fever?

Kenalog is a steroid injection it is not an antihistamine. Steroids are a powerful anti-inflammatory medication that helps suppress the body’s immune response when it overreacts to allergens or inflammation.

Kenalog is a steroid, its therapeutic usage include:

Intra-articular use: for alleviating the joint pain, swelling and stiffness associated with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthrosis, with an inflammatory component; also for bursitis, epicondylitis, and tenosynovitis. Intramuscular use: Where sustained systemic corticosteroid treatment is required: Allergic states: bronchial asthma; Endocrine disorders, e.g. primary or secondary adrenocortical insufficiency. Collagen disorders, e.g. during an exacerbation of maintenance therapy of selected cases of SLE or acute rheumatic carditis; Dermatological diseases, e.g. pemphigus, severe dermatitis and Stevens Johnson Syndrome; Rheumatic, Gastrointestinal or Respiratory disorders – as an adjunctive, short-term therapy; Haematological disorders, e.g. acquired (autoimmune) haemolytic anaemia; Neoplastic diseases, e.g. palliative management of leukaemia and lymphomas; Renal disease, such as acute interstitial nephritis, minimal change nephrotic syndrome or lupus nephritis. Does the treatment for Severe symptoms of hay fever work?

The Hay Fever Treatment (for severe symptoms) can be beneficial when other treatments have failed. Please note this service is only available at select clinics and administered by Expert Clinicians who discuss the benefits and risks of administering medication with you on the day of your consultation. The mainstay of hay fever treatment is oral antihistamines, nasal sprays and eye drops.

How long does your treatment for Severe Hay Fever last?

Usually, one dose is enough to keep symptoms at bay for the entire hay fever season.

In some instances, a second hay fever dose is administered and may be required during the same season. This should be done within 2-3 weeks after the initial administration of the medication. If you do find that a second dose is required we can administer this at a reduced price of £40 in Burnley and £60 in Shepherds Bush.
