Climbing Sports Medical £105

We undertake Climbing Sports Fit To Compete Medicals. We Follow the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) guidelines. The IFSC are responsible for setting and enforcing standards of medical care for athletes.

The UK national governing body, GB Climbing have designated that all athletes must have a ‘GMC registered medical practitioner’ complete the certification process with the athlete.

What do I need to do?

  1. Athlete to self-score the Low Energy Availability questionnaire (Female athletes – LEAF-Q survey or Male athletes LEAM-Q survey)
  2. Please also self-score the Eating Disorder questionnaire (EDE-Q)
  3. The Athlete will then meet with a GMC registered Medical Practitioner to review the 2 surveys/scores and to have record taken of :-
    1. Height
    2. Weight
    3. BMI
    4. Heart Rate Seated at Rest
    5. Blood Pressure seated at rest
  4. If satisfied with examination and survey scores, Medical Practitioner to indicate “Clear to participate” on the BMC Health Certificate (page 2 of BMC attachment) ORIf not satisfied , Medical Practitioner to indicate “Athlete requires investigation through further testing” on the BMC certificate and note comments/recommended further actions.
